Installation Mistake 101...

You shouldn't load your malware programs before finishing your software installs. If you have to download from a site like Download.com you might want to be protected so, download before you reinstall.

Make sure you have all your software ready that is 3rd party gathered up by the Media Itself, or a downloaded compressed/ISO image.

When you install signed software then the software is approved, but companies like Piriform and MBAM use different servers to download their product from.

The problem with some of these sites are that they usually come with a little more than you ask for and the "Installer" loads crapware with your Program/App.

Once you have confirmed that the software is ready to be installed is when you can start the format on the system you intend to reinstall.

The software programs themselves are trusted and only go to their internal or approved servers to get any updates that are waiting for your programs.

If you have a Malware Program Installed, you might corrupt an install or an update which sucks, so wait until everything is loaded before you load your malware program to ensure a good load.

Remember, the software that you are loading is signed and goes to qualified trusted servers, so no need to monitor what's already being monitored, you know like, "You Missed a Spot" guy, right? :-)

Also; It also goes for Mid Loads along the way and Version updates. At that point it's only recommended to "Disable" your protection until restart as you load new programs or version updates.

sidenote: Most Good Malware Software can be disabled by right clicking the icon in the systray (time) right hand corner. Just take the protection check marks out or disable until restart.
