Here's an Idea...

The Power Lines that are strung along telephone poles is as old as the Telegraph and needs to be changed, and not only that, they're hideous looking.

Every time the wind blows or the weather changes to snow the lines go down by a fallen tree or some catastrophe and the result is a power outage until they fix the lines.

Fixing the lines mean someone in a truck has to be dispatched and they have to drive out there in their little truck which takes time.

The weather could be so bad that the repair person can't even drive out there which means the power could be down for days or it's more than one downed line.

If they can have wireless chargers and wireless headphones, they should be able to have wireless power grids.

Not only that, they would have batteries as well that would keep power on to the homes in case a malfunction happened or an update is being performed.

This way there wouldn't be a need to send a truck out to fix a line, because it can all be done at the NOC.

The World has gone digital so they would have it all software driven on encrypted private networks.

This also goes for the homes that are being built.

Homes should be more energy self-sufficient and they should make use of Solar and pellet stoves to heat.

When you have lived in a home that is officially off the grid it's awesome. No more ridiculous amount to pay to the electric companies anymore.

Houses are built in a way that they self heat and self cool. They provide a year round temperature that is comfortable and free.

Plus with the wireless grids you wouldn't have to spend so much on utility vehicles and any other wasted expenses to support this nostalgic architecture.
