Windows 10 Anniversary Update cont...

Currently Microsoft is providing this update as a Manual Install, but as we reported before people are dealing with issues with their security programs and hardware issues...

The Anniversary update is like a Service Pack of yore where it includes fixes to the operating system, driver updates and security patches, but it's also a beginning of a new way of updating...

The process that Microsoft used to update systems from older operating systems to Windows 10 was the beta test of the new way they will update your OS...

Updates like this will just happen, you'll wake up one morning and the operating system will be different and your icons will be rearranged and a new software program will be installed...

...that is providing your subscription is up to date hint hint...

The Anniversary update is both manual and automatic right now, so we still recommend you disabling your updates until further notice...

Don't worry, there will be a lot of people out there that will wake up to either an update or a blank screen, Microsoft calls these people the Guineas...

Oh, one of the most anticipated upgrades is the "Dark Screen"...yeah, so like we said, you're not missing out on anything...

In time, yes, these updates will become crucial to your operating system and will need to be done on a consistent schedule, but they will impact your third party programs and they will affect your drivers as did service packs did in the past...

Not everybody has the money that Microsoft/Apple/Google and the like have to upgrade whenever they are ready, or whenever it's convenient for them to upgrade, so problems will occur with compatibility...

The current preferred method to updating the Anniversary update is with a USB drive and performing a clean install of the update rather than updating from Windows itself...

You will need to know which Operating Version you have and you'll need to know if you have 32 or 64 bit...

The USB drive will need to be 8gb in order perform a clean update from Boot...

The update also leaves behind files like the Windows 10 update did when you upgraded before, so there will be a clean up process involved after you are done updating to recover your drive space, 26gb of space...

Using "Disk Cleanup" will clean up those files, choose both the System Files Clean Up then the "Delete Files" option, make sure you check all boxes on both screens...

There is no hurry to do this update because Microsoft is venturing into uncharted waters, but if you're into adventures and your business doesn't rely on having a stable computer, then by all means, update a way because Microsoft needs answers...

:-D no they're not going to pay you for those answers, but you will see them implemented for other users which will be your validation that they heard your requests, and that's reward enough, right...

Here's the deal, the World has changed long ago, and when you're in a structured environment you're not allowed to think outside the box so companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google and the like are behind the 8 ball when it comes to security and are in a desperate attempt to get ahead of it...

You are going to hear from Linux Users that you should dump Microsoft and go to Linux because it's so much better, but everybody knows that Linus Torvalds hasn't been keeping up with security either and has been questioned about his ethics of late...

Apple has the best developers right now and are improving security much faster than anyone is right now, but they too are very far behind and their biggest weakness is their Enterprise Infrastructure...

sidenote: What would happen is you mixed a Blackberry with an Apple *****...

off the beaten path: In a Chip and Pin presentation Nir Valtman claimed, before adding that he usually frequents stores that allow him to pay with his Apple Watch, as he finds the technology more secure than EMV.

They are vulnerable and the expense to change out their environment and become current is mind numbing to them, so like a good magician, they'll keep you watching this hand to keep your mind off of what the other hand is doing...

Microsoft's only rival is IBM when it comes to Enterprise and Security regardless of the pundits that argue that the Internet is primarily Linux...

The Internet is just like a Government, instead of fixing the infrastructure like the water lines, septic lines, roads, security etc., they build buildings to keep the rent money coming in and the prettier they make them, the easier it is to unfocus the masses...

You will eventually have to upgrade and you will have to begin to trust the new process as you have many times in the past and we're still here and Microsoft is still relevant, but it's time to be cautious and watch your step, because you don't want to get hurt by someone that won't take responsibility for their actions, unfortunately it's the times we live in...

However, without any further adieu, if you still want to upgrade we won't think any less of you and we'll admire you for your courage in doing so, just two pieces of advice:

1. Make sure your data is backed up...
2. Uninstall your Malware Program first, the license will keep...

Now you're ready, but remember, regardless of whatever choice you make it's your choice, so own it...

How to get the Windows 10 Anniversary Update...

**UPDATE**

Here’s how to enable the post-update auto-login feature. First, you’ll need to be updated to version 1607, also known as the Anniversary Update...

The only thing that does seem to work is to roll Windows 10 back to a previous build....

We're going out on a limb here, but we think that the only people that are having problems with this update are people that updated low end processors and memory machines...

We're thinking that Generation 5 users and above aren't having this problem...Watch PC Sales go through the roof :-D to find a compatible PC...

There's more than one way to skin a cat 'eh Microsoft ;-)

It’s also possible it might have started limiting your Internet speed...

**UPDATE**

The Anniversary Update has a name...Redstone, and that is what you are installing next month because they are still having issues with it...

Redstone 2 or the 2nd Anniversary would come out next year and possibly a Redstone 3...

Today's build (Redstone 1) also removes support for kernel debugging and still has problems with Adobe Acrobat Reader...
http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-releases-first-windows-10-redstone-2-test-build/

The Anniversary Update or Redstone is not in your Windows Update so if you want to enable your Windows Update to get current with your security patches then go ahead...

Redstone is being loaded through another link that you download to your PC and install it separately from your Patch Tuesday Updates...

We have updated all our PC's, but are still turning off the Updates in Services just in case, because we know Microsoft's tricks ;-)
