Here's another idea for you Fitbit...
We recently thought about people that are bedridden and don't have the use of their limbs due to paralysis, MS w/ever and the people that watch over them...
In the hospital they hook up heart monitors to patients that are then hooked up to a response system that alerts medical staff if the heart stops...
This untethers the hospital staff from the patient to allow them to perform their hospital duties and care of others all the while knowing that at a seconds notice they will be alerted in case of an emergency...
This equipment is obviously expensive and not every home care provider can afford the luxury of such a device, but if it was designed in a wearable, like a Fitbit, well that's affordable...
Some people are on their last days of life, but things still have to be done, like grocery shopping, refilling prescriptions, so you can't be around the individual/loved one all the time and you can't always rely on someone stepping in for you either, so what do you do...
With a Fitbit monitoring system wearable you just sync the heart rate up with your Fitbit device so you can monitor them wherever you are...
It would also have to have a pinger type technology in it to make sure that you just didn't lose connection with the device, this way you don't respond to a false positive...
The device could also be hooked up to a 911 response system, so if the caregiver is not close enough a medical team could be alerted instead...
The problem with that is what if the door is locked when they show up, how do they get in the house? bust down the door...
Well we are now equipping homes with Smart Locks and in the case of an emergency the Fitbit device would send out a text that would allow a one time unlock code for the door so emergency teams could enter the house...
The text code would be like what you get in an email to help you get into your account and the code would only be for that entry and would always be different for each emergency to maintain security for the homeowner...
On a fun side of the technology we thought it would be cool if you could sync up your heart rates of your lovers...
This way you could "Feel" the heart beat through your wearable of the heart beat of your partners and would always be connected to them...
If the heart rate goes faster you could say things like, I was thinking about you just then and you would say, ahhhh, I love you too honey...
Either way to us it seems like a necessary technology especially in the respect to patient/caregiver response time alerts...
