(Bloomberg) -- A hacker group has stolen as much as $1 billion from banks and other financial companies worldwide since 2013 in an “unprecedented cyber-robbery,” according to computer security firm Kaspersky Lab...
The criminals detected by Kaspersky infected bank employees’ computers with Carbanak malware, which then spread to internal networks and enabled video surveillance of staff...

If we have told you once we have told you a hundred times...BYOD, Bring your own device and get the "ENDUSER" off the net!
An enduser is like a criminal, regardless of how many times you tell them not to check their social media sites they're gonna do it anyway even after they get caught.
If you have to have a computer hooked to the internet for your company, make sure it's not connected to the database.
People want the Government to come in to help protect them from cyber threats, while they continue to use their birth date as their password.
The only way a network gets breached is when they have someone on the inside letting them in.
The Enduser needs to bring their own device to check their social media sites and their home monitoring systems or their twitter accounts.
Work PC's that are connected to the internal database should not be on the internet PERIOD.
Online banking is not secure, wireless networks are not secure, bank phone apps DEFINITELY NOT SECURE, the internet is not secure.
Endusers aren't going to get any smarter, they like the drama of it too much and they love feeling like the victim, because it's an attention getter.
You've got to just pull the plug on them and take control OF YOUR NETWORK TECHS and stop listening to the enduser.
When you give something to someone they are your friend, but when you tell them you can't give to them anymore they stop being your friend, endusers...are...not...your...friend!
Think of it like this, Valentines Day, you'll go out and get her what you think she wants or what you think she would like, but all she is going to do is complain.
You'll then try to improve it the next time, but the demand will be greater and the costs will be higher, and still, it won't be enough, because they are never satisfied and they'll always remind you of what the other person got for V-Day.
So you can continue down the never satisfied lane, or you can just cut to the chase and nip it in the bud and tell them that instead of a Valentines Dinner and gift, that you've decided to go out with the boys to a stripclub ;-)
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link...and that's a fact!
sidenote: Endusers are not Gender Specific, both male and female are equally as damaging when it comes to Computers...
**UPDATE**
The media has taken off with this issue and are saying that this is all new never seen before type of crime, but they as usual are WRONG!!!
People were getting viruses on their computers in the 90's the exact same way they are getting them today.
What, you think that these people just woke up one day and said, dude, I had a vision on how we can take things from other people, I call it...Theft! :-D
They also think that the tactics they used were all new and never seen before style of theft...they watched people...:-D
James Caan had a great movie called Thief that watched people and staged their heists days/weeks before they ever pulled the job because they had to watch the people...
People are easy targets because they are so in need of companionship and are always wanting to connect with someone new or having them like their post.
You'd be surprised how cheap owners are when techs come to them about software they need to keep systems backed up and secure...oh, no surprise, 75% of you are the same way!
Kaspersky is an excellent program, but there is more to it than just having a good malware program, but it's where you start.
There is also security measures you need to take with your computer itself, with the browser settings, keeping it clean, not restarting or shutting down without cleaning the cache first.
Never installing programs you have no idea what they do, or installing programs you "THINK" you need.
Back to Corporations...these are the people that are the biggest problem here.
They hire young boot campers out of college that know how to code, but have no practical knowledge of anything else.
We have worked with some of the smartest coders in the business and it never fails, unless you give them a project/direction, they'll just sit there.
You could put them in a room and come back days later and they would still be sitting the same way with nothing accomplished.
However, a CEO doesn't have time to monitor everyone of the business and they have fired everyone else.
They think by firing the middle aged workers or hiring seasoned professionals is too much money, but they are losing more money by paying people with no life skills whatsoever.
The problem comes again with proper training of these individuals and parents aren't doing their job to get them ready for life, and most parents aren't even around.
College teaches them nothing about life only how to take a test get a passing grade and graduate so the college can keep their funding.
Not only that, but people have lost their sense of value thanks to the trust fund baby boomers and drug addicted generation X.
Take Snapchat for example, here is a program that did "TWO" things, take a picture and delete it and it sold for billions of dollars and come to find out it didn't delete :-D
Nonetheless, here is a stupid program that sold for Billions of dollars and has done nothing for the advancement of technology, or humanity itself.
Bill Gates did more for technology than the snapchats of today, and is still dazzling and amazing the minds of people.
Microsoft has even had to pull Bill back in to help them with a Vision, because they now have a left brained wrench turner running the company that's got his head stuck in the clouds.
When you take the Bill Gates out of the equation you are left with clones of clones that know just what the College could teach them.
A good example of a Visionary is Steve Jobs, Steve went to Toshiba and Toshiba said, look Steve we have these little tiny hard drives that we have no idea what to do with, but Steve did and Viola iPod!
Otherwise, they would have just sat there wondering what to do if someone didn't point them in the right direction and tell them what to do...Thanks Steve :-)
College is a joke, and all politicians talk about education, but all they are referring to is giving money to the Universities to keep people coming into their cities.
K-12 is where they need to concentrate on, and get rid of College for Bachelors of BS degrees that get/give you nothing.
Parents need to start investing in the K-12 schools like a College and start training these kids for what life really has in store for them, practical living skills.
Business is in everything we do, so of course your study would be just like a College, but more accelerated.
Plus if you start "MAKING" parents pay for K-12 schooling they'll think twice about just laying down with any Tom/Dick or Harry and Sally/Kathy or Michelle.
If they are required to start funding their childs future from Kindergarten, you'll find that people will become more involved with their lives and the lives that are part of it.
Scholarship programs will be awarded for good grades only, and work programs will be put into place for the children to help fund their school.
Businesses will be required to buy a certain amount of services and or goods that students will be performing on a day to day basis.
There will be no one activity like Football that gets all the attention, all activities are funded equally and are given the same support and attention that any other activity would have.
Arts/Music/Sports/Business/Technical/Science/ all equally funded and funded for by parents/students and Corporations.
The school would be an investment in your children's future, and everything is on the table, so the child knows exactly what their commitment will be when they begin to work for themselves.
There will be no teachers standing in front of a class with chalk in their hand writing on a chalkboard, it will be computerized interactive software applications that will teach the students.
There will be no favorite student in the class, you won't have to worry about a teacher sleeping with a student or a teacher complaining about this that or the other.
You also won't hear the excuse, "I have too many Students" anymore, because you'll be able to provide multiple monitors around the room so each student will have a good view and sound.
Plus, the interactive software will work like a DVR and the students will be able to pause and replay a missed segment independently from the other monitors.
That means that the rest of the class could continue while one group could stop/rewind on a touchscreen monitor and without interrupting the flow of the lesson.
College if needed will be funded again by the parents in a savings program that begins when the child begins their first day of school (Kindergarten)
College will be both computerized and human related teaching to help them interact with people and how to treat one another, but computerized for enhanced higher learning.
Interest rates will adjust accordingly to the economy and no, you can't take the money out it's a trust for your child's future endeavors.
The money will also be used to prepare for the day they move out of the house. They will be placed into a home/apt that suits their needs, furnished and all utilities will be put in their name.
They will be placed into the home as soon as they graduate this way they get adjusted to living on their own faster and they learn to grow up faster.
The student will be evaluated early on to determine if College will be in their future and a payment plan will be built into their schooling dues.
The parents will be paid back every cent they put into their child's education because the job the child takes will take out a monthly amount and will be required to pay back in the same amount of time 12 years.
Jobs of tomorrow won't exist like they do today due to robotics taking them over. People will be in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, biology, technology, government, restaurant/hotel, etc.
Everyone will have a job, all their earnings will be monitored and housing and transportation will be provided for them at the amount they can afford.
Opening a business won't be as easy as it was before, due to the health care system and the amount of taxes that nations are taking from people to pay for roads and transportation.
Automobiles won't be made like they are today, they will standardize and limit models, for Utility, Luxury, Economy and Transit.
The Auto industry is losing money left and right and is costing the Taxpayer too much money and people are not buying cars like they used to anymore today.
Biking and Walking are already becoming mandated in the world we live in today, and cars are becoming too expensive for most to buy due to the evolution of Electric.
People will be trained to live within their means, and will stop wasting their hard earned dollars on things they can't afford that go into foreclosure anyway and are left to the taxpayer already.
People are tired of paying for other people's kids, and they are tired of welfare systems for drug addicted parents that don't know how to use contraceptives.
People don't have a kid because they know they can't afford them, they can't have one, or they just don't want one, and they'll be damned if they should have to pay for yours!
You'll still have your freedom to post on Facebook, because they'll want to monitor the type of person you are so they can keep an eye on you.
They'll still have gambling and drinking because these types of places bring in huge revenue and they require medical response for troubled people.
You can't change the person you are, you are who you are, they'll just be better equipped to handle a situation if one arises.
If you don't think that this will happen you're wrong, because it's happening already TODAY with the exception of the schooling.
This is where the healing will begin with the K-12/13 education system...and that's a fact!
