The OSI Layers Simplified...

"The evolution from micro-matter to metaverse begins with the seven layer netplex scheme of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model of the International Standards Organization...

The OSI Stack, above the physical layer is the "datalink" this is the medium where hardware becomes "firmware" and Software that define the electrical specifications, timing rules and electron-photon conversions that enable the transmission of information across a link from one node or computational address to the next...

Switches operate here at layer two, passing packets only to the next node, local area networks such as Ethernet or WiFi function at this level...

If you shun the highways of the internet, you can live your life transmitting your bits and bytes across the datalink layers, layer two...

The third layer is the network layer, the domain of routers, which combines with the transport layer (layer four) to establish the end-to-end links that constitute the TCP/IP Internet Protocols...

This is the entire system of IP addresses and Transport Control Protocol traffic shuffles that comprise the connections from end to end across the Net...

Layer three does the headers on the packets, the identities and addresses; layer four does the actual transmission and reception of data packets and traffic management, load balancing and acks (i got it) and naks (I'm still waiting) that assure connections...

Layers three and four tend to be a bastion of central powers, where governments and their intelligence arms chase down domain names and addresses, entities such as ICANN and even the UN's ITU...

When they discover a silk Road or perhaps an Alpha Bay, they track it down over layer three...

Above layer four is layer five-the all-important session layer-which governs a particular two-way communication from beginning to end, whether a video stream, a Skype call, a Session Initiation Protocol conference, a messaging exchange, an email post, or even-and this would prove fateful- a transaction...

Layers six and seven are the schemes for presentations and applications-user interfaces, windows, formats, operating systems, and so on...

These are summed up in the ingenious schemes of hyperlinks (click on a word and go to a new page) and universal resource locators (URLS) addresses...

Tim Berners-Lee at CERN in Geneva invented them in 1989 as part of his World Wide Web. Berners-Lee wanted to make all data linkable into one Web, a skein of tools that made it easy to set up a Web page of "shared creative collaborative space where everyone could play together"...

To describe the OSI stack in Telecosm: Pick up the handset of an analog phone and listen for a dial tone (physical layer signal) now often simulate; dial a number (every digit moves the call another link closer to the destination); listen for the the ringtone (signifying a network connection and transport of signals) by the time you get someone on the line, you have gone through the first four layers of the OSI Stack, then the hello begins a session, the choice of English defines the presentation, the conversation constitutes the application layer and the hang-up ends the session..."

Continuing with that another layer is being introduced an 8th layer...Blockchain...

5hVnz Earbuds Cont...

Looking for an alternative to those expensive earbuds, but don't want to look cheap doing it...

We've found another brand that we think you'll like...

FIIL The Art of Audio...
http://www.fiil.com/en/

FIIL T1X is the brand we think you'll like, around 50.00...

It comes with it's own app for that personal touch, fast charging, up to 4 times charging capability with the case...

Waterproof so you can use them on your run or while working out so don't worry about the sweat...

Individual pairing is ideal, so it won't matter which earbud you pull out it will work and it syncs with your phone as soon as you open the case...

The case feels a little cheap, so hopefully that won't be a problem down the road...

They're very comfortable stay in  your ears...buds, so if you're not into spending alot of money, this is an excellent choice...

On another note: Sony sent back the replacement earbuds and they weren't any better than when they went in the first time, so they were returned for full credit...

However, the 1More model # EHD9001TA are an excellent set of buds, yes you'll spend some money on these, but they are sensational...and that's a fact!

5hVnz Song of the Month...

Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out for a Hero...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFVrOC8gOhU

"Holding Out for a Hero" is a song recorded by Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler for the soundtrack to the 1984 film Footloose, and later included on her 1986 album Secret Dreams and Forbidden Fire. It was written by Jim Steinman and Dean Pitchford. Initially, the song only just reached the Top 100 in the UK Singles Chart, but made it to number 2 the following year, and re-entered the charts again at number 69 in 1991. The song reached No. 1 on the Irish Singles Chart on 28 September 1985. It reached the top 40 in the United States and Canada.

Tyler was born Gaynor Hopkins in Skewen, Wales, to coal miner Glyndwr and housewife Elsie Hopkins. She grew up in a four-bedroom council house with three sisters and two brothers. Her siblings had varied music tastes, exposing her to artists such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and the Beatles. Hopkins and her family were deeply religious Protestants. Her first public performance took place in a chapel as a child, singing the Anglican hymn "All Things Bright and Beautiful".

Leaving school with no formal qualifications, Hopkins began working in a grocery shop. In 1969, she entered a local talent contest, and after coming in second place, was inspired to pursue a career in singing. Responding to a newspaper advertisement, she found work as a backing singer for Bobby Wayne & the Dixies before forming her own soul band called Imagination. It was around this time that she changed her name to Sherene Davis, to avoid being confused with Welsh folk singer Mary Hopkin...

In 1975, Davis was spotted singing with her band in the Townsman Club, Swansea, by talent scout Roger Bell, who invited her to London to record a demo track. After many months had passed, she received a phone call from RCA Records, offering her a recording contract. They also recommended that she change her name again. After compiling a list of surnames and Christian names from a newspaper, Davis found a new name in "Bonnie Tyler".
