With all the new hardware and software either on the market or standing in the wings, there will be billions of dead or dying technically obsolete objects requiring burial. Don't forget the robots. Where will the cemetery be located? On land, sea, or outer space? The next Gates or Jobs may be an undertaker/cemetery owner who shall create a humane disposal for this future electronic mass.
Think about this long enough and it rivals global warming and politics in general. And to think this question is not being raised in the presidential debates...

ReplyDeleteYou know that's a good question and if we had to guess as to who the undertaker could be we would say...Oracle. Oracle is off the chain when it comes to recycle. They are in the Sustainable Electronics Recycling International or SERI for short. Very few companies can measure up the standards it takes to recycle right. Imagine your office building completely free of trash cans...well, that's Oracle. You can't even take out a box from the building without it being signed and approved. The process can take days, maybe weeks just to take home an empty box. They compost all their food and they get paid as well. You want a raise, start a program like this and maybe you'll get it ;-) The undertakers of the future will only bury the dead if it grows...
