5hVnz Song of the Month...

Lynyrd Skynyrd (/ˌlɛnərd ˈskɪnərd/ LEN-ərd SKIN-ərd) is an "American" rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida. The group originally formed as My Backyard in 1964 and comprised Ronnie Van Zant (lead vocalist), Gary Rossington (guitar), Allen Collins (guitar), Larry Junstrom (bass guitar) and Bob Burns (drums). The band spent five years touring small venues under various names and with several lineup changes before deciding on "Lynyrd Skynyrd" in 1969. The band released their first album in 1973, having settled on a lineup that included bassist Leon Wilkeson, keyboardist Billy Powell and guitarist Ed King. Burns left and was replaced by Artimus Pyle in 1974. King left in 1975 and was replaced by Steve Gaines in 1976. At the height of their fame in the 1970s, the band popularized the Southern rock genre with songs such as "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird". After releasing five studio albums and one live album, the band's career was abruptly halted by tragedy on October 20, 1977, when their chartered airplane crashed, killing Van Zant, Gaines, and backup singer Cassie Gaines, and seriously injuring the rest of the band.

Lynyrd Skynyrd reformed in 1987 for a reunion tour with Ronnie's brother Johnny Van Zant as lead vocalist. They continue to tour and record with co-founder Rossington (the band's sole continuous member), Johnny Van Zant, and Rickey Medlocke, who first wrote and recorded with the band from 1971 to 1972 before his return in 1996. In January 2018, Lynyrd Skynyrd announced its farewell tour, and continue touring as of October 2019. Members are also working on their fifteenth album.

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Lynyrd Skynyrd No. 95 on their list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". Lynyrd Skynyrd was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006. To date, the band has sold 28 million records in the United States.

God & Guns is the thirteenth studio album by the southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, released on September 29, 2009.

The single "Still Unbroken" was released on July 27, 2009 followed by another track, "Simple Life", on August 4, 2009. "Still Unbroken" was written after the death of original bassist Leon Wilkeson in 2001. It was the theme song of WWE’s Breaking Point PPV event and is featured on WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010.

"God & Guns" was the last Lynyrd Skynyrd album to feature the band's longtime keyboardist Billy Powell, who died in January 2009. Ean Evans, who had replaced Leon Wilkeson on bass, also died before this album came out. The late Hughie Thomasson (dec.2007) had contributed to the writing of many songs, but recording did not begin until 2008 and he does not play on the album. This album is the first with guitarist Mark Matejka. The album features guitar work from John 5.

Although neither was present on the album, the CD booklet contains a picture of the group with the two new members: Peter Keys on keyboards and Robert Kearns on bass.

The album's title comes from its eighth track, "God & Guns", written by Mark Stephen Jones, Travis Meadows and Bud Tower, which was later covered by Hank Williams Jr. for his 2016 album It's About Time. The lyrical shift from "Saturday Night Special" to "God & Guns" has been taken into account by band member Johnny Van Zant, who explained how the song was not a direct contradiction to "Saturday Night Special."

God & Guns peaked at #18 on the U.S. Billboard pop charts, the band's highest-charting studio album since 1977's Street Survivors. As of 2012, the album has sold 182,000 copies in United States...

The Best Breakfast Burrito in Town...

Now this is controversial, because there are two types of burritos that could be considered the best, one is smothered and the other is dry...

The problem we have found with smothered burritos is that they focus on the sauce and cheese and leave the inside of the burrito basic...

When the burrito is dry they focus on each one of the ingredients that go in the burrito to give each ingredient the best flavor it can have to provide a flavor explosion when you bite into it...

That's why we like a dry burrito that way you can dunk it in your own sauce or add your own cheese, or add your own green chili over the top that way you get the best of both worlds...

This place is a little out of the way, a little smaller and off the beaten path, and you know that's why we love it even more...

The place is called, El Kioska in Renton Washington...

Hope you Enjoy...

The Best Gyro in Town...

The Best Gyro in town is based off of years of experience we've had with eating from some of the best Greeks in the business...

This is the most unlikely of a places you would find a Gyro and we were pleasantly surprised when we first went there, now we don't go anywhere else...

The problem with most places is they short change you, it's either small portions and a high price, or a descent portion with an even higher price...

This place gives you huge portions and the price is absolutely right...

A lot of places the pita is hard and the meat is tough, or their hummus tastes like it was scooped from a can...

This place is as authentic as it gets, very low key and the most unlikeliest place to get a Good Gyro from, but we guarantee you're gonna love it...

The place is called...Midway Donuts...lol, we know, right, Midway Donuts, but like their Gyros their donuts are even good, and HUGE, get the apple fritter, yuuummm...

The Gyro comes plain, mild and spicy so choose carefully, ohhh, our mouth is watering just talking about it...

They are located in Des Moines Washington...

Our recommendation is instead of the fries, get the Spanakopita instead, yum yum yum...

Hope you enjoy...

The Best Poke' in Town...

Poke' /poʊˈkeɪ/ (Hawaiian for "to slice" or "cut crosswise into pieces...

Poke' has become real popular lately, and people are starting up little shops all over, but be careful, because poke' is Raw Fish...

Poke' is typically bought by the pound, you just go in pick your fish and they fill it up in a tub and you go on your way...

Other places get a little creative and create bowls with fish and rice and other ingredients to not only give it a little flavor explosion, but it creates a nice appearance...

Another thing you need to be looking for is if their fish is frozen or fresh, if it's frozen say, have a nice day and leave, only go with fresh...

You also want to look for a place that knows what they got and can walk the walk and talk the talk, if they don't know where their fish came from, leave...

Another thing we like, kinda personal to us, is that we like to go to places that are out of the way, or unlikely of places, like their appearance is either simple, or misleading...

We're pretty sure we found that place, it's in Kent Washington called, Green Valley...

Green Valley is a Chinese restaurant and has been a Chinese restaurant for almost 20 years, it's only added Poke' in the last couple of years and it was a smart idea...

This place was already a popular place with great Chinese food, now their a popular place for their Poke' as well...

The bulk of their fish is flown in fresh daily from Hawaii, but they also buy local for some of their fish, like Salmon...

They serve Poke' Tuesday thru Saturday, don't come on Monday for Poke' because you'll be leaving with Chinese food, which is fantastic...

Hope you enjoy...
